A wonderful internship at Symetrix, Inc.

Over the summer of 2021, I enjoyed the opportunity of working alongside professionals in the world of commercial audio. In fact, It all started when my roommate mentioned he got an interview for a company in my hometown. The best part, there were two open positions! so, I immediately reviewed my resume and drafted a cover letter. Over the span of two weeks, I went from applying to the job, to having my first interview, then a technical interview, and finally getting the position. This was the best feeling in the world and the second best, my roommate getting the position as well.

The first part of the internship was part-time during the spring quarter of my Junior year at Seattle Pacific University. Every morning, my roommate and I would carpool to work. This was a fantastic time to have many interesting conversations. After school let out for the summer, it transitioned to full-time.

After a week or so of training, I was able to begin developing intelligent modules (extensions) for Symetrix's commercial audio software called Composer. These were written in Lua with Composer-specific libraries. During my time at Symetrix, I developed two different intelligent modules for controlling third-party cameras. These were a perfect challenge to learn more about tailoring software to interact with manufacturer-specific protocols over TCP.

Here are links to the intelligent modules I made:

Next up, I gained experience working with different front-end and back-end systems in various Symetrix products. Such as the T5, T10, Control Server, and more.

Additionally, throughout my time at Symetrix, I had experienced coworkers who helped guide and mentor me. I learned more than just technical skills while there. My understanding of soft skills was broadened. Soft skills can always be improved upon and greatly impact work efficiency.

Lastly, I want to thank Symetrix for a life-changing summer. Thank you!
